Your handbag is more than just an accessory; it's a daily companion that carries your essentials. However, the interior of your bag can quickly become a magnet for dirt and stains. Fear not! With the right approach and products, you can easily clean and sanitise your handbag’s interior, keeping it fresh and pristine.
Step 1: Empty Your Bag Before you start cleaning, make sure to completely empty your handbag. Check all pockets and compartments for any forgotten items. This will ensure a thorough cleaning process.
Step 2: Gentle Cleaning with Foam Cleanser For handbags with interiors made of cotton, canvas, or microfiber, our Gentle Foam Cleanser is your go-to solution. This cleanser effectively removes light stains without damaging the delicate fabric.

Application Tip: Use our Application Sponge. Apply the foam directly onto the sponge, then gently dab and blot the cleanser onto the interior fabric. For particularly dirty areas, rinse your sponge in clean water, but be sure to wring out excess water before reapplying.

Drying: Leave your handbag open and allow it to air dry naturally for at least 6 hours. If stains persist, repeat the process, ensuring the fabric is completely dry before reapplying the cleanser.
Step 2: Cleansing Wipes for handbags with leather interiors. For handbags with interiors made of leather, you can use the above technique and product - our Gentle Foam Cleanser. Or, you can use a Cleansing Wipe. We particularly like to use our Cleansing Wipes on our leather interiors, as they catch & remove dirt and dust incredibly easily.

Application Tip: Gently wipe over the interior of your handbag, ensuring you cleanse any pockets & compartments too. For bags with particularly bad stains, you can follow this up with another Cleansing Wipe or, our Gentle Foam Cleanser once dry.

Sanitizing with Antibacterial Cleanser After cleaning, you can sanitize the interior to eliminate any lingering bacteria.

Application Tip: If your handbag is large ie a Neverfull - spray our Antibacterial Cleanser in a fine mist from 20-30 cm away, moving continuously to cover the entire interior. (Tip - have a clean cloth or Mitt to hand to wipe off any excess / to buff into leather).

If you have a smaller handbag then you can apply our Antibacterial Cleanser to one of our Mitts or, a clean sponge and gently and evenly dab / blot over your interior.

Drying: Allow your handbag to air dry for another 6 hours.
Step 4: Final Touches Once your handbag is completely dry, check the interior for any remaining stains or odors. Repeat any necessary cleaning steps or consider using our Pursefume Scent Capsules or our Deodorising Spray to keep your bag smelling fresh.
